CONCEPT MODEL OF THE MEMORIAL

The Gold Star Family Memorial is to be created as a place where Gold Star family members and loved ones can go to meditate, to contemplate, and to celebrate the lives of those they have lost.
The centerpiece of the proposed memorial is a heartwarming statue conceived and designed by artist Stephen Colley that will feature a total of seven important characters: an angel descending to heaven with an expired male soldier in her arms; a wounded female soldier in a wheelchair holding a Purple Heart medal and being pushed by a male child; a female soldier unfurling the American flag; a male soldier kneeling in prayer; and a seated woman with a triangular-folded flag on her lap, gazing at the fallen soldier in the angel's arms.
The statue will be surrounded by a number of columns with plaques and two curved bluestone benches, one circling the front of the statue and the other circling the back.
The finished statue will be 6 feet (72”) tall cast in bronze
